Head of Bulger Partners’ financial and accounting team, and responsible for the firm’s financial reporting, compliance functions, and business and investment operations.
Chris Burns is the Chief Financial Officer for Bulger Partners where he is responsible for all financial operations that support the firm’s globally expanding business. Chris drives the financial strategy at the firm and works with the Operating Committee to identify the right investments in support of its growth agenda, while also ensuring there is adequate risk management, measurement frameworks, and governance in place. In addition to his role as CFO, he is a member of the firm’s Compensation Committee.
Chris has over 25 years of experience and demonstrated leadership in the areas of accounting, finance, and operations in start-up and established technology firms, both public and private. He is an entrepreneurial CFO with an expert understanding of the business models, infrastructure, management, and capital structure necessary to scale organizations from the start-up phase to being publicly-held.
Prior to Bulger Partners, Chris was the CFO of ShapeUp, a SaaS social wellness platform. At ShapeUp, he helped build the company’s business and finance infrastructure, and also prepared and led the company through its successful sale to Virgin Pulse.
Chris was also the CFO of Andera, a SaaS provider of customer acquisition solutions to U.S. financial institutions, where he played a strategic role in the growth and eventual sale of the company to Bottomline Technologies. Previous to that, he was the CFO of Retail Solutions, where he provided operational and financial leadership to this rapidly growing SaaS provider of point-of-sale (POS) data to the retail industry until its successful sale to VeriSign.
Chris holds a BS in Finance from Northeastern University and an MBA from Bryant University.
